Make Money Using Google Earth?
Over at the Google Earth Blog, Frank Taylor asks whether people are Making Money via Google Earth. Well I’m not sure that there is sufficient take up of Google Earth to replace web stores (yet). But several insights in his post resonate with me.
-Firstly, Google Earth lends itself brilliantly to location based items. I used an example of this in my earlier post Howto geotag anything. I created a Tagzania account to list several items for sale that were relevant to my location (Isle of Man). Once the KML file is opened in Google Earth, you will see some links to DVD’s and Books etc. If you click on these, you get taken to Amazon using my affiliate links. (I used ElfURL to keep the links nice and manageable)
- Secondly, The Network Link in Google Earth allows that content to be dynamic. If I add additional items for sale in my Tagzania account, these will also be displayed next time you open up Google Earth. The Network Link IS the Killer App of Google Earth
The main problem is that first someone has to find your Network Link and then load it up in Google Earth. If Google Search adds KML output for geotagged items, then we’re in business!

I like your idea of using a network link to dynamically create new links for different products. Once could imagine having products automatically presented based on a location. For example, Fodor’s (sp?) tour guide books for different countries could be recommended when clicking on a link while sightseeing a particular country or city. I guess this is where your were headed for the Google Search for KML…I could see a way Google could make a lot of money doing something with that thought.

Intrigued by this commercial usage… not tested yet, I´m afraid, but who knows. We are glad that you liked Tagzania.

THat these stocks move quickly….real fast,,,another thing is that sometimes things move on news sometimes they dont….But here is a secret and keep this in mind….Most of these stocks are B.S…They are just creative ideas or something that sounds very good,,like a product or some kind of cleaning comp,,what ever,,it can be anything..JUst like Get Fugu..$GFGU…They were smart to create and idea or a product for an app phone…THe company is only 8 people..But you get the money to go public,,,hire a news writer or an analyst and get your share holders to buy and pump..Then when everyone jumps it,,,WHam they pull out or they sold all of there shares and made about 20 million on a execellent idea,,,,and its legal..and it Happens all the time..So what im saying is look

@chels I know what you mean, its hard to find good help these days. People now days just don’t have the work ethic they used to have. I mean consider whoever wrote this post, they must have been working hard to write that good and it took a good bit of their time I am sure. I work with people who couldn’t write like this if they tried, and getting them to try is hard enough as it is.
